The African American Day Parade is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to serve as VIP Hosts and Reviewing Stand Coordinators for our upcoming event. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the parade by providing exceptional support to parade organizers and ensuring a memorable experience for important guests. This is a unique opportunity to actively contribute to a vibrant celebration of African American culture and history.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a VIP Host by checking in and assisting important parade guests, including dignitaries, community leaders, celebrities, and sponsors.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment, ensuring VIP guests feel valued and well taken care of throughout the event.
  • Assist parade organizers in managing the reviewing stand area, ensuring a smooth flow of participants and adherence to the parade schedule.
  • Coordinate with parade officials and participants to ensure a timely and organized procession.
  • Answer inquiries and provide general information to attendees, enhancing their parade experience.
  • Collaborate with fellow volunteers to ensure effective teamwork and seamless execution of tasks.
  • Assist with any additional duties as assigned by the parade organizers.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for community service and a genuine interest in promoting African American culture and history.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and make VIP guests feel welcomed and valued.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to assist in coordinating the reviewing stand area effectively.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Dependability and punctuality to fulfill assigned shifts and commitments.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Commitment: Volunteers are expected to commit to attend a 1 hour volumeter meeting on August 12th , and be present on the day of the parade, Sunday September 17, 2023.
